Business Management System

Business Management System

At Dormor Machine & Engineering, our Business Management System is built around a commitment to quality, continual improvement, operational excellence, and responsible business practices, giving customers confidence in a manufacturing partner that delivers precision-engineered solutions with consistency and accountability. Our ISO 9001-certified quality management system provides a strong foundation for controlling processes, maintaining traceability, and ensuring customer requirements are met, while our ongoing development towards ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 19443 demonstrates our commitment to environmental stewardship, employee wellbeing, and the highest standards of quality assurance within the nuclear supply chain. By integrating these internationally recognised standards into a single management framework, we are strengthening our capabilities, reducing risk, improving performance, and supporting customers operating in safety-critical and highly regulated industries, with the aim of achieving full certification across all standards by 2027.

QUALITY

Quality is at the core of everything we do at Dormor Machine & Engineering Ltd, supported by a strong business management system and our commitment to meeting the specific requirements of every client. We have recently introduced a temperature-controlled inspection area to help ensure products are checked accurately and delivered consistently to the required standard, on time. Our capability to achieve high-spec surface finishes, together with the use of a Faro Arm for precision measurements, allows us to inspect components with confidence and maintain the level of accuracy our customers expect. This commitment to excellence is reflected in our adherence to three accredited standards, giving clients confidence that every project is managed with quality, consistency, and reliability from start to finish.

Health & Safety

At Dormor Machine & Engineering, health and safety is a fundamental part of our culture, helping us provide customers with a reliable engineering partner while ensuring the wellbeing of our employees, visitors, and contractors. Supported by our Health & Safety Management System, we maintain robust processes for identifying and controlling risk through regular risk assessments, safe systems of work, incident reporting, and continual improvement activities. We are committed to providing ongoing training and competency development, ensuring employees have the knowledge, skills, and appropriate personal protective equipment required to work safely and effectively. Alongside our focus on promoting wellbeing and mental health awareness throughout the business, we are working towards ISO 45001 certification by 2027, further strengthening our commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and positive working environment for all.

Environmental

At Dormor Machine & Engineering, our commitment to environmental responsibility is embedded within the way we operate, helping us provide customers with a responsible and trusted engineering partner while reducing the environmental impact of our activities. Through ongoing investment in renewable energy, resource management, and carbon reduction initiatives, we are continually improving operational efficiency and reducing our environmental footprint. Our environmental programme includes the installation of solar panels across our factory roof, reducing reliance on grid electricity through on-site renewable generation, alongside energy-efficient LED lighting and ongoing monitoring of energy consumption to identify further opportunities for improvement. Supported by waste reduction, reuse and recycling initiatives, as well as responsible procurement practices throughout our supply chain, we are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting the responsible use of resources, and supporting both our customers and stakeholders in achieving their own environmental objectives.

NUCLEAR

At Dormor Machine & Engineering, we recognise the importance of the highest standards of quality, traceability, and operational control required within the nuclear sector, supporting our commitment to becoming a trusted supplier to safety-critical industries. Our existing capabilities in precision machining, inspection, critical component manufacture, and complex engineering projects are supported by robust quality assurance processes, comprehensive document control, and full material traceability, providing a strong foundation for future nuclear sector requirements. As part of our long-term growth strategy, we are working towards ISO 19443 certification by 2027, strengthening our Business Management System and aligning our processes with internationally recognised nuclear quality standards.
